Dr Dog and his Robo-bird...

Doctor Dog (yes, he got a lot of crap about the name) wasn't the sort to mess about with cadavers and dangerous chemical infusions. Nosireebob! He skips straight over the biometric equation and leaps face-first into robotics!

Bird-bot 1 is primed and ready to testing!

Rough as guts!

some quick bits and pieces today - no Photoshop prettying or whatnot (ok, not much)
These are mostly pics I did for my kids...

The Fuzzy Pink Bunny!

the daughter asked me to draw a bunny 'wabbit'. Needless to say bunny wasn't supposed to be sleeping! I got in trouble for this one...

Fish Teeth

This was done while I was supposed to be helping Son#1 with his maths homework... or was it english. Sharpie and crayon (mostly cos those were what was available in his pencil case from school/or my pockets at the time).

I know it's kind've a cliched visual, the super-cute li'l fishy with the MASSIVE maw, but I also figured, what the fu- I mean... -hey. It's all good aquatic fun till someone loses a flipper.

Der Froggo

I cheated this one with some quick P'shoppy type colours. This came up in response to the weird-ass li'l frog I saw hopping about on the bitumen the other night while waiting for wifey and kiddos to pick me up from the station.
Hop li'l frog, hop!

Lion/Line

The daughter is very keen to learn reading/writing, from there she maintains it's only a hop, skip and a tango to world domination and hair-styling supremacy! She said, 'Daddy-o' (cos we're hip that way, and cos I'm writin' this, and if I admit she said, 'daddeeeeeeee' I'll have to smack you sidewards), she said, 'Daddy-o, draw a line'. So, being the perverse parent I am, I drew the image at left.

After I recovered consciousness I drew the image on the right.

Kids! Hah!

The Thrubmar Mercenaries!

The Thrumbar mercenaries are nasty folk. They work and work and work until the work is done, then they assign themselves into committees to ensure there's more work to do.

Oh, and they carry big-ass guns.

If you pay them enough, if you can find them, they'll do what you ask. For a price. Cos they're mercenaries. Which means they only care about money. Not princesses. Money. Sweet, sweet money.

Cowboy Rejects

These images were part of a course proposal, but the client decided the whole western theme wasn't serious enough for the content.

Mainstreet
- Sheriff's office on the left, saloon on the right (Madame Foo's Celestial Heaven Parlour and pizza joint is upstairs).

...and the high sierras in the distance.

Sheriff, Zane LaFontaine and her deputies.
(I went High Noon for the tall guy, and Django for the short fellow)

Map of the town doubles as a learning plan.
The Sheriff's star was an 18th birthday present from my friends in school, lo those many years ago.

Reusing character images in sepia, coupled with a bunch of my own cowboy crap - voila! Title page. The woodgrain is from the laminate on my work-desk, the bolo (string tie) on the right is the only tie I own! (Cos I's a rebel, and I never never never, lah lah lah).

What's the plan?

layout for a newer, bigger image... will feature monsters and heroes and stuff in the gaps. This is part of a series of images based on myths.

Ok, it's a hypothetical series, cos I haven't done them yet.

...and look! Funny robots! Don't you think they are funny, cos they are robots, but they are doing... unrobotty things! Hah hah! It is... unusual!!!

Last night, I couldn't get to sleep at all...

Actually, I could, but the song's been running through my head since I wrote it there in the header, so...
KRAKEN AWAKES! (but did she ever sleep?)
This pic is really a cry of 'YE ELDER GODS BUT I DO LOVES ME SOME HECKBOY!' (and did you know there's a film coming out? Woot!)
Melchior, the easily exacerbated pig (he's got SUCH a temper). I have no idea why he's so angry, but he's wearing a nice dressing gown and it's the middle of the day, so maybe he's a shift-working pig woken up by kids playing cricket in the nets just over his back fence? Yeah, I reckon that's about the size of it...

This is unashamedly art. started as a doodle during a REALLY important meeting, turned into layering effects and negative space. I like the hint of terror in the suggestion of a skull.

Father's day card from #1 Son (I like the rendering of my whiskeriness) This is his first post, and maybe he'll have more! Maybe...

Oh crap! Not AGAIN!!!!

This is old, like... OLD (ok, it's maybe six months old) but it's all sorts of fun.

the alpha

(I lost this image!!! ARGH!)

So now I am the blogging person, which is the thing to do, so the kids tell me.

Now if you'd join me in this amusement:
  1. Pretend I've written something terribly witty and exciting
    (possibly sardonic, definitely cynical.
    ...maybe even hipster-esque),
  2. nod head knowingly,
  3. pause,
  4. read some more,
  5. now do a spit-take (optional: spurt coke all over expensive new monitor).
The humour, the humour.
